Back in September I had a call from Mike. He was planning a surprise proposal to his girlfriend Laura and wanted me to capture the moment he popped the question... without her knowing!
I was really excited to be involved and couldn't wait to meet Mike a few days before to run through how he intended the 'moment' to play out. At Stanton House Hotel, there is a lovely garden which then leads down to the woods and a lake. Having shot a few weddings there before, I am familiar with the setting and was impressed at the forethought that Mike had given everything.
On the day, we were expecting storm Barbara to hit and everyone was a little anxious at the torrential rain and wind that was forecast. But amazingly it held off and Mike was able to propose as planned. And Laura said YES! :)
After, I heard Mike ask Laura if she had any idea what he had been planning, and she said that she didn't suspect at all. Great work Mike. I also discovered that Mike designed and had Laura's beautiful ring made - how special.
Later, the two of them went to the hotel for some afternoon tea with family and friends, which was another surprise for Laura.
I am thrilled to be sharing these photographs with you as it was such a special moment that I was asked to capture.
I am also really looking forward to 2018 when I can see these two again and capture their wedding day. I have a feeling its going to be amazing :)
